Take Action.
Whether it's picking up a single piece of trash, getting the word out, or joining us for a beach clean-up on World Oceans Day, every little bit helps.
- 01
Reduce plastic
Skip single-use plastic water bottles. Carry a reusable one, refill stations are on every block in Waikīkī.
- 02
Recycle at home
Start a recycling program for your household. The City of Honolulu offers curbside service in many neighborhoods.
- 03
Reef-safe sunscreen
Use mineral, biodegradable sunscreens. Better for you and for our coral reefs.
- 04
Conserve water
Shorter showers, leak-free taps, native landscaping, every gallon matters in the islands.
- 05
Bring your own bag
Hawaiʻi's plastic bag ban is in effect. Keep a few reusable bags in your car or backpack.
- 06
Pack it out
Whatever you bring to the beach, take with you. If you see trash, pick it up, even one piece helps.
- 07
Respect marine life
Don't feed, touch or chase marine animals. Stay on marked trails and leave no footprint on fragile ecosystems.
- 08
Mind the storm drain
Storm drains flow directly to the ocean. Never dump anything down them, including soapy car-wash water.
- 09
Choose safer cleaners
Use environmentally safe household cleaning products and dispose of chemicals through proper hazardous-waste channels.
- 10

Join a beach clean-up. Volunteer. Vote for ocean policy. Tell a friend. Collective action is the multiplier.
