Sea Grant Lecture Series.
Free evening lectures from the scientists, educators and cultural practitioners working to understand and protect the ocean around Hawaiʻi.
Science for the public
The Sea Grant Lecture Series is a long-running partnership between the Waikīkī Aquarium and the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program. Each lecture features a researcher, conservationist or community leader sharing current work in plain language for a general audience.
Recent topics have included coral disease in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, community-led fisheries management, the science of king tides and sea level rise, and the recovery of Hawaiian monk seals.
Free and open to everyone
Lectures are free, but seating is limited and registration is recommended. They typically take place one Tuesday evening each month at 6:30 pm in the Aquarium classroom.
Most talks are also live-streamed and archived on our YouTube channel for anyone who can't make it in person.
